Goil Tackles Fuel Shortages With Four Million Litre Supply
State-owned oil marketing company Goil has taken steps to address fuel shortages that hit some of its fuel outlets across the country during the Easter festivities.
Some of its fuel stations displayed notices to inform customers about the development.
This compelled some frustrated Goil customers to complain and seek reasons for the development which had been in place since the weekend on social media.
“Why shortage of fuel at atabadze junction stations?,” one customer asked on Twitter.
Another tweeted, “All branches in along the beaches of Accra are without fuel for 3 days now. No communication from Goil.”
The tweet received a response from Goil.
“We are so sorry for the inconvenience. We are currently having a little challenge. This will be resolved shortly. Thank you”, Goil commented.

In a statement on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, the company confirmed the development was particular to XP RON 95-petrol- at some stations.
The statement signed by the Goil’s Public Relations Manager, Robert Kyere, said the development was due to supply disruptions but noted that the supply of four million litres of the fuel was underway.
It said two million litres were supplied to stations experiencing the shortages on Tuesday, April 11 while 2 million more were supplied on Wednesday.
Checks at the Abrepo Goil fuel station on Thursday morning confirmed availability.
On Wednesday, the station had a notice announcing the unavailability of petrol.
The statement from Goil also said, it “intends to release more stocks to the affected stations in the next two days to augment supplies at the stations.”
