Go For Your Passport; Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Directs Applicants
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has directed passport applicants to pick up their passport booklets from their application centres in the country.
According to the Ministry, there is an urgent need for such persons to go for their booklets.
In a press statement dated January 30, 2023, the Ministry said there are about 30,000 passports to be collected from centres in Accra and Kumasi alone.
It said efforts to get such applicants to retrieve their printed passports have proved futile.
“The Ministry is concerned that even though applicants have been informed through text messages that their passports have been printed and sent to various application centres, most of them are yet to be collected.”
The Ministry in its statement called on the applicants to visit their centres for their passports.
Meanwhile, it said applicants can call its Client Service Unit to verify the status of their application.
But in the comment section, some Ghanaians assigned reasons for their decision to forget about their applied passports.
“Mine was done three years ago, imagine I went to collect it and the office said someone has come for it. But I also travelled from far place for it. Who can collect a passport that doesn’t belong to him. Wish to hear from the ministry”, one Facebook user by name Apostle Chris Y Amemako.
“I have been going to Tamale office since August for my passport. It was today I went and I was told it has being printed now but it is still in Accra. I asked them when and they said I should try next week see. Hmmmmm”, Sulemana Seidu commented.
“I applied for the passport in 2018, I went to the passport office in Adum for 15 good times, I got fed up and I stopped going there. You can have it all for yourselves…m’abr3 mo aden”, another by the name Sadick Lincoln said.
