GIS Finds Oheneba Nkrabea Kind And Respectful

The Ghana International School (GIS) has found Oheneba Nkrabea, one of the Rastafarian boys at the centre of the Achimota School admission saga, to be kind and respectful.

He has therefore been awarded as such.

A certificate awarded to the young boy said, he has “Shown social awareness by being kind and respectful to anyone he interacts with”.

This was shared by his mother, Maanaa Myers on her Facebook page.

She wrote, “Our character was questioned because we carried our natural God given hair to school. We were called wee smokers who would corrupt “well groomed” children in the school. They were not ready to give us any chance at the Prestigious Achimota school because we were not fit to be part of an elitist school because of our natural hair.

“…Congratulations Oheneba on your award for being a kind and Respectful student at Ghana International School. And to those who judge people’s character by their looks, before they experience them, I hope you learn from this”.

In September last year, Maanaa disclosed that she moved Oheneba to GIS because his son was subjected to maltreatment at the Achimota School by teachers in the school after winning the court case.

“On the first day he complained a teacher asked him why his uniform was dirty but when he looked at himself and asked around, no one saw dirt on him. When he got home I called my neighbour to even verify. Another time he met a group of teachers and greeted them and one of the teachers had a problem with that. On another occasion, a teacher complained his short was very short but he has the normal length”, she chronicled.
