GHS Staff Undergo Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has organised a two-day Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training/capacity building exercise for all staff.
The training which started on September 8 at the head office was aimed at equipping staff with the necessary skills to respond effectively to common medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest and other life-threatening situations.
On the first day of training, participants were educated on the need for CPR and how to recognize signs of cardiac arrest.
This was followed by a 2-hour practical sessions and drills on how to perform CPR and apply Automated External Defibrillator -AED-in an emergency situation.
In addition to the CPR training, a free Medical Screening exercise for all staff at the Headquarters was held over the same period.
These include checks for Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose Levels, Body Mass Index, and Eye screening. Participants were also reminded to call the national emergency number 112 during any medical emergency.
This proactive measure by GHS underscores its commitment to ensuring that its workforce is not only health-conscious but also equipped to save lives in critical moments.
This exercise is scheduled to be replicated at all Regional Health Directorates across the country to ensure that health staff outside the hospital settings also receive the needed skills and wellbeing to support the quality of care agenda.
