Ghana’s Monkeypox Cases Climbs To 18
The number of confirmed cases of monkeypox in Ghana has increased to eighteen (18), the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reported.
On June 8, 2022, when the Director-General of the GHS confirmed the country had recorded Monkeypox among the populace, he said there were five detected cases.
On June 22, 2022, at a press conference, Dr Kuma Aboagye noted that the number of monkeypox cases had surged.
He said out of 72 suspected cases so far, 18 have tested positive with the last confirmed case recorded on June 14, 2022.
Infected persons, he said, are between the ages of 9 months and 41 years with 39% being females.
Dr Aboagye said the outbreak is in Greater Accra, Ashanti, Bono and Eastern Regions.
“No one has died”, he added.
