Ghana’s Envoy to UK Assures Scholarship Beneficiaries of Debt Settlement

Assurances have been given for the clearance of outstanding scholarship obligations for Ghanaian students studying on government scholarship abroad.
During an engagement between Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK), Her Excellency Mrs Sabah Zita Benson, and UK-based beneficiaries, she said efforts are underway for a resolution to the chronic problem of debt.
“Her Excellency Mrs Sabah Zita Benson met with the Executives of the PhD Scholars’ Cohort in the United Kingdom to discuss concerns regarding outstanding scholarship obligations,” the Ghanaian High Commission said in a Facebook post.
She assured them that the government is actively working to resolve not only their challenges, but those affecting all scholarship beneficiaries.
Her Excellency appealed for patience, explaining that the debt burden is substantial and requires careful coordination to address.
In the spirit of cooperation and good faith, the Executives agreed to H.E Benson’s appeal to suspend their planned protest while the Government finalises and implements lasting solutions to the matter, with the expectation that some of the commitments will be met within the first quarter.
