Ghana Witnessing Remarkable Economic Performance- MoF
The Ministry of Finance has touted the economic growth Ghana has witnessed in the third quarter of this year as “remarkable”.
This follows the publication of the growth rate by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).
According to the Ministry, the economy continues to exceed expectations, defying challenges and solidifying its position as one of the most dynamic economies in the African region.
“Ghana’s economic resurgence underscores its unwavering commitment to fiscal consolidation, debt restructuring, and inclusive growth.
“This performance not only highlights the country’s resilience but also its ability to lead the charge in economic recovery across the region,” it said in a statement issued on December 12.
It proffered that the milestone could be sustained through the continuous running of initiatives like the Planting for Food and Jobs Phase 2 Programme; SME Growth and Opportunity Programme; One District, One Factory Programme; Economic Enclave Programme; and Ghana CARES Programme.
Economic Growth
Data from the GSS for the third quarter of 2024 stood at 7.2%—the highest quarterly GDP growth in the last five years.
The non-oil sector in the third quarter recorded 7.7% growth; 17.1% in Mining and Quarrying; −0.6% in Oil & Gas; 3.4% in Manufacturing; 17.1% in Information & Communication; 7.8% in Financial & Insurance Activities; 1.7% in Accommodation & Food Services; 4.4% in Transport & Storage; 5.9% in Crops Sub-sector and; 4.8% in Livestock Sub-sector.
