Ghana to Host Guinea in Olympic Qualifier on Tuesday

Ghana’s women’s football team, the Black Queens, are set to host Guinea in the second leg of the 1st round qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympics on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 4pm at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Having secured a convincing 3-0 victory in the first leg held in Conakry, Ghana enters the match with a significant advantage.

Coach Nora Hauptle expressed her satisfaction with the team’s performance in the first leg but emphasized the need to capitalize on scoring opportunities to increase their lead further. The Swiss coach expects her players to thrive in front of their home fans and secure a positive outcome in the second leg.

In the first leg, Ghana’s Vivian Adjei Konadu, Doris Boaduwaa, and Evelyn Badu were the goal scorers, providing a comfortable victory for the Black Queens. Since Nora Hauptle took over as the manager, the team has enjoyed a successful run with four consecutive victories.

The Black Queens are eager to continue their winning streak and progress to the next round of qualifiers, where they will face the winner of the match between Rwanda and Uganda.

A victory on Tuesday will bolster their confidence as they strive for a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The crucial match against Guinea will kick off at 4 pm at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
