Ghana Takes Delivery Of 1.5 million AstraZeneca
The Ghana Health Service has taken delivery of 1.5 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from Germany.
The vaccines were received by the Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Mahama Asei Seini on Sunday, September 26, 2021.
The Director of Communication at the presidency, Mr. Eugene Arhin, announced that the government of Ghana had dispatched a plane to Germany to take delivery of these vaccines during a press briefing at the Jubilee House some weeks ago.
This is in line with the German government’s promise to make available 70 million COVID-19 vaccines to Africans in the year 2021 to vaccinate 1.3 billion of its citizens.
Ghana is also looking forward to 1.3 million Pfizer vaccines from the United States of America, after taking delivery of some 1.2million Moderna Vaccines on September 4 from the same source.
The government of Ghana is determined to vaccinate 20 million of the adult population by the end of 2021.
