Pooley Killing: Two More Arrested

The Police have arrested two additional suspects in connection with the violence that ensued at the Nana Konamansah Park at Nsoatre over the weekend which claimed one life.

In a statement on February 5, the police service identified the new suspects as Isaac Ofosu and Yeboah Augustine.

“The suspects, Isaac Ofosu and Yeboah Augustine are currently in Police custody assisting in the ongoing investigation.”

This brings to five the number of suspects so far arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred on February 2, 2025, at Nsoatre in the Bono Region during a football game between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC.

According to the police, intelligence-led operation is underway to get the remaining culprits arrested to face justice.

On February 3, the police arrested former Employment and Labour Minister, Ignatius Baffour Awuah who is President of Nsoatreman as well as two others.

They were all granted bail by Sunyani District Magistrate Court B yesterday and are set for reappearance on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Stabbing
Ardent Asante Kotoko fan, Frimpong Yaw Francis, popularly known as Nana Pooley, was stabbed to death following the 1-0 defeat to Nsoatreman FC.

This followed a melee that marred the game at Nana Koramansah Park at Nsoatre in the Bono Region on February 2, 2025.

He died at a hospital while receiving treatment, Kotoko confirmed in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Porcupines alongside four players have been charged for failing to control players and anti-footballing activities respectively during the game.

Kotoko have since suspended all footballing activities until further notice.
