Ghana Coach Otto Addo Calls for Improved Performance as Black Stars Face Germany Tonight

Ghana’s head coach Otto Addo has urged his players to deliver a much better showing they prepare to take on Germany in their final friendly game of the March international window.
The Black Stars head into the game looking to bounce back after suffering a heavy and embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Austria last Friday, March 27, result that has attracted plenty of criticism but also provided key lessons for the technical team and players.
In a pre-match interview, Otto Addo downplayed the margin of defeat against Austria, insisting the game was much more balanced than the final score suggested. He pointed out that his team created several clear chances and could easily have taken something from the match.
“The result against Austria was not as big as it was… it could have been 1-1. I’m hopeful my strikers can show it again tomorrow that they can score goals,” he said.
The enterprising gaffer also reminded his players of their ability to recover from difficult situations, drawing motivation from past setbacks the team has overcome. He stressed the need for everyone to stay united and focused on delivering a much-improved performance against a strong German side.
“In the past we’ve been in worse situations like not qualifying for the AFCON but we came back strong. I reminded the boys on that and we’ve agreed on a number of things we have to do better,” he added.
The game is scheduled to take place at 18:45GMT (6:45pm) later this evening at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart. The friendly forms part of Ghana’s preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
