Ghana Bar Presents Newly Elected Leaders to Asantehene
The outgoing President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Lawyer Yaw Acheampong Boafo has introduced his successor and other newly elected members of the group to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The introduction was done when the members of the Association joined the seventh Akwasidae Festival of the year hosted at the Manhyia Palace on September 15, 2024, to pay homage.
He introduced Efua Ghartey (nee Dickson) as the President-elect and Victoria Barth as the Vice President-elect who will replace Kwasi Amoako Adjei.
“It’s been 3 years since I was elected President. This year our conference was held here in Kumasi. Otumfuo held a dinner for us at his newly commissioned Jubilee auditorium, making us the first Association to be hosted there. On 4 November, my tenure will end. In the course of our Conference, we elected our first Woman President, Mrs Ghartey. We came to thank Otumfuo for hosting us and also to introduce our new leaders to him so they take his blessings for the work ahead.”
He noted that they will assume their duties on November 4 when he bows out as the National President and takes on a new position as an executive member.
Other elected members he introduced to His Majesty included Kwaku Gyau Baffour as the General Secretary and Lawrencia Adika as the Assistant Public Relations Officer.
The GBA held their General Conference in Kumasi last week during which the election took place.
