Ghana Added To South Africa’s E-Visa List
Ghana has been enlisted onto South Africa’s Electronic visa, the country’s High Commission in Ghana has announced.
This means Ghanaians do not need to travel all the way to the High Commission to apply for a visa. It can be done in the comfort of their homes.
“The High Commission of the Republic of South Africa wishes to inform you that Ghana has been added by the Government of the Republic of South Africa on the E Visa list, which means that the Ghanaian Nationals can apply online for visas to South Africa without visiting the High Commission,” a statement from the Commission said on Thursday.
It noted requirements such as passport details, letter of invitation/proof of accommodation and a bank statement would be verified on arrival at a point of entry.
The country introduced the e-Visa in February 2022 and has since been extended to 14 countries.
It was rolled out with the purpose of encouraging foreign investments and tourism in South Africa.
“This mode of visa application allows applicants interested in visiting South Africa to apply for visas at their comfort. While requirements remain the same as for physical applications, electronic applications help applicants save time and resources that would otherwise be spent by visiting embassy offices,” the country’s evisa website indicates.
It explains that an e-Visa “permits short business or tourism-based stays in South Africa and simplifies the application process.”
