GES Prepares For BECE Candidates Placement

The Ghana Education Service (GES) says it has begun processes to undertake the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

It follows the release of the provisional examination results of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates.

In a Facebook post, the GES said, “Preparations for the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) begins.”

 

Cancelled And Withheld Scripts
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Thursday announced the release of the provisional results of both private and school candidates.

It disclosed that a total of 315 candidates comprising 312 school candidates and 3 private candidates had some subject results cancelled due to some examination malpractices.

The candidates are said to have sneaked into the exam hall foreign materials in the form of prepared notes, textbooks and printed materials.

At the same time, it said the entire results of 45 candidates including 41 school candidates and 1 private candidate have been cancelled for possession of mobile phones in the examination hall.

WAEC also said it has withheld the subject Results of 184 candidates as well as the entire results of 112 candidates for various suspected offences.

Meanwhile, the scripts of 22,270 candidates, in certain subjects are under investigation for reported cases of mass cheating. It notes that the results may either be cancelled or released based on the outcome of investigations.

Candidates can check their results on the website of the WAEC.

Statistics
Data from the Council indicates that 602,739 candidates made up of 600,900 school candidates and 1,839 private candidates were registered for the exam.

However, a total of 3,427 were absent.
