Gender Ministry Provides Food Assistance to Gbenyiri Land Dispute Victims

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has provided cooked meals and water to the displaced families of the Gbenyiri Land Dispute in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region.
During a visit to their temporary shelter at the Sawla District Police Headquarters, the sector Minister, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, assured them of the government’s continued support.
She stressed that the Ministry, under the mandate of the Social Protection Act, would activate emergency interventions such as food relief, psychosocial services, and protection measures to safeguard the welfare of the most vulnerable.
“As a government, we are committed to restoring dignity and hope to affected families. Women, children, and the elderly must never be left to suffer the heaviest burden of conflict,” she stated.
The Ministry says it is working closely with the Savannah Regional Security Council (REGSEC), NADMO, the Ghana Red Cross, and other partners to ensure food, shelter, and essential services are delivered to the displaced.
The clashes, triggered by a land dispute, left several people dead and forced scores of women, children, and households to flee their homes.
