Gender Ministry Condemns Molestation Of Fulani Woman In Viral Video
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has condemned as cruel, brutal and barbaric, the assault of a female in a viral video.
The Ministry is the latest to denounce the incident which is said to have happened in Kupelga in the Upper East Region.
The video reportedly showed a group of people beating and assaulting a naked woman.
In a statement, the Ministry said violence against women and girls is not justified and must not be tolerated no matter where, how and who committed it, noting that it tends to take a toll on their development.
“The Ministry strongly condemns this cruel, brutal and barbaric act meted out to the young lady. This act is a blatant breach of her human rights and dignity and is thus punishable by law,” the statement held.
Four men were arrested on Tuesday by the police in connection with the crime.
They have been identified as Awizore Amolt, Akolbila Asorwogo, Atibila Aladago and Akolbila Ben.
They were arrested in a Police intelligence operation at Kupelga in the Upper East Region, the Ghana Police Service said in a statement and added that they were assisting in the investigation for the arrest of the remaining culprits.
Meanwhile, psycho-social support has been provided to the victim by the police.
The Ministry of Gender in its statement applauded the police for their swift response to the incident and urged the public to report such violence.
