Galamsey: We’re Determined to Protect Asante Lands- Dep Forestry Commission CEO
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission of Ghana, Eric Kevin Elikem Kotoko, has assured the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, of the Commission’s resolve to protect the forest zones of his jurisdiction.
Joining the eighth Akwasidae Festival observed at the Manhyia Palace on November 9, 2025, he recognised the spate of destruction of forests by illegal mining and avowed his commitment to fighting the menace.
“Illegal mining is destroying your land. We, as a Commission, together with security agencies, are determined to change the narrative and safeguard your land.”
He also acknowledged the need for collaboration with the Manhyia Palace to successfully hit their target.
On that note, he sought the blessings of Otumfuo.
“Our mandate demands that we collaborate with the King. We are here to introduce ourselves, pay homage and to receive the blessings of the King.”
