Galamsey Fraud Trial Set For July

The remaining accused person at the centre of the ‘Galamsey Fraud’ trial spearheaded by the Office of the Special Prosecutor is scheduled to commence next month.
According to a statement by the OSP, the trial will begin on July 2, 2025, with prosecution witnesses slated to testify accordingly on July 2, 3, 8, 9, 15, 22, and 23.
At a Case Management Conference, the prosecution informed the court that it had filed all disclosures on 28 May 2025.
Two witness statements have been submitted, one with five exhibits and another with 12 exhibits.
In addition, the prosecution disclosed the submission of 63 other documents.
Lawyers for the accused requested the original copies of these documents, confirming they had already been provided.
Former Secretary of the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue is alleged to have facilitated unqualified companies in bypassing procedures to acquire mining licences while serving as the Secretary of the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining.
