G/AR: Police Search For Owner of Abandoned Cannabis-loaded Truck

The police are searching for the owner of a Sinotruck Tipper Truck with registration number GN 993-14, abandoned at Sege Akpla Manya in the Greater Accra Region.

According to a police statement, the driver abandoned the truck at the said spot and fled upon sighting Regional Patrols Unit personnel on February 15, 2026, at about 0010 hours.

A search of the vehicle revealed it was loaded with fertiliser sacks, containing a total of 3009 slabs of plant material suspected to be narcotic drugs (cannabis).

The truck and its contents have since been impounded at the Tema Regional Headquarters for further investigations.

“Efforts are ongoing to arrest the driver and verify the ownership of the vehicle,” the statement announced.

Meanwhile, two individuals have been arrested for attempting to bribe Police officers at the Regional CID Office in Tema to influence the release of the vehicle and the suspected narcotic substances.

They reportedly visited the office and offered a cash sum of GHc 150,000.00.

“The money has been retrieved and retained as an exhibit,” it stated, while identifying the suspects as Victor Asigbey (40) and Peter Asigbey (35).

They are currently in Police custody, assisting with investigations and will be arraigned before the court on February 18, 2026.
