G/AR: Nigerian Woman Rescued Alive from Drains Referred to Accra Psychiatric Hospital

A Nigerian woman rescued alive from a drain at Afrikiko Traffic Light in Accra has been offered psychological attention.
She received medical attention at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital at Asylum Down, Adabraka, following her referral by the police.
Her referral followed interrogation by the Nima Police Station.
The 29-year-old, identified as Rita James, was rescued by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
The victim claimed she hid in the drain overnight after being chased by some men who intended to harm her.
