G/AR: FDA Closes Down 16 Food Service Establishments

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has reported the closure of 16 food service establishments for failing to meet regulatory requirements.
It comes two weeks after the notice for compliance with the Food Hygiene Permit requirement.
In a statement, it outlined the affected establishments to include the Cheesecake House, Dolce Frizzante, Onda and Alora Beach Resort.
“We remain committed to protecting public health and ensuring that all food service providers operate in strict compliance with good hygiene practices.”
The FDA announced that it is enforcing the Food Hygiene Permit requirement in a final warning.
This applies to restaurants, lounges, hotels, chop bars, snack bars, food vans, bakeries, event caterers, online food businesses, canteens (in schools, hospitals, offices), and all other establishments involved in food service.
This enforcement action is in strict accordance with Section 130(1) of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851), which states that a person shall not manufacture for sale, sell, supply or store products regulated under this Part except in premises registered for that purpose under this Part.
It noted that establishments found non-compliant will remain closed until they fully regularise their operations and obtain the Food Hygiene Permit.
