G/AR: 5 Arrested over Namibian Diplomat Robbery

The police have reported the arrest of five suspects following a robbery attack on a Namibian High Commission diplomat at the Accra Airport Residential Area.

The victim filed a formal police complaint on February 25, 2026, after the robbery incident on February 23.

According to the complaint, she was robbed by a man on a motorbike while walking to the Namibian High Commission.

She reported that the suspect made away with her handbag containing an iPhone 15 Pro Max valued at Ghc19000, a Huawei P50 Pro phone valued at Ghc11,000, a Namibian diplomatic passport, a Namibian driver’s licence, a bunch of office and house keys, ATM cards and other personal belongings.

Probe and Arrest
Acting on the complaint, a Regional Police team traced the iPhone to Agbogbloshie-Galaway, where suspect Miracle Asare, a 26-year-old spare parts dealer, was arrested and the phone retrieved.

Further investigations led to the arrest of suspect Theophilus Darko, 40, and Benjamin Opoku, 26, both phone dealers at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, who were identified as part of a chain through which the stolen iPhone had passed.

The Huawei phone was traced to Dansoman, where suspect Emmanuel Agbagbase, 41, was arrested and the phone retrieved.

Emmanuel identified suspect Daniel Ashiagbe, a 24-year-old Okada rider, as the phone seller.

On his arrest, Daniel admitted to committing the robbery and selling the iPhone for Ghc2,500 and the Huawei phone for Ghc1,000 during interrogation.

“He also admitted that he burnt the victim’s diplomatic passport and other documents in the handbag,” the police saidduring a presser on March 5, 2026.
