Full List: 63 Minority MPs Declare Support for Dr. Bawumia

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s bid to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) received a significant boost on Thursday, October 23, as sixty-three (63) Minority Members of Parliament openly endorsed his candidacy.
The MPs, drawn from various constituencies across the country, held a press briefing in Accra to announce their collective backing for Dr. Bawumia, whom they described as a visionary leader capable of steering Ghana toward progress and stability.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Mampong MP Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong said their decision stemmed from conviction rather than emotion, emphasizing Dr. Bawumia’s proven record of service, discipline, and innovation.
He noted that the former Vice President represents the party’s next phase of transformation, combining experience with a forward-looking approach to governance.
Ampratwum-Sarpong described Dr. Bawumia as a unifying figure who possesses the competence and credibility to win the trust of Ghanaians and lead the NPP to victory in the 2028 general elections.
He urged party delegates across the country to rally behind Dr. Bawumia, highlighting that he has consistently demonstrated loyalty, hard work, and results-driven leadership throughout his public service career.
“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has walked the path, carried the burden, and delivered results,” he remarked, adding that the time has come for the NPP to reward dedication and continuity by choosing a leader who embodies both renewal and unity.
The Mampong legislator further noted that two MPs preferred to keep their names private, although their support for Dr. Bawumia remains firm.
This declaration by the 63 Minority MPs is seen as a major morale boost for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign and is expected to strengthen his standing within the party ahead of the NPP’s flagbearer elections.
