{Full Half-Year Report} OSP Investigates Sale of GES Appointment Letters

The office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) says investigation has commenced into the alleged sale of Ghana Education Service (GES) appointment letters to interested persons.

In its half-year report published on January 13, 2025, it said it was investigating a network of some staff of GES and middlemen over the suspected corruption and corruption-related offences.

“The Office has commenced extensive investigation into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences in respect of the sale of Ghana Education Service (GES) appointment letters and employment to applicants.”

“The investigation covers a network of some staff of GES and middlemen suspected to be engaged in the use of public office for profit through the sale of appointment letters and employment to applicants,” it added.

This is among 213 cases currently being probed by the Office.

It has however concluded three investigations including recruitment exercise of Course 51 of Cadet Officers Training at the Ghana Police Academy; the procurement and the award of a contract to Turfsport Ghana Limited by the Gaming Commission of Ghana; and use of public office for profit against Mr. Charles Bissue, during his tenure as Secretary to the erstwhile Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).

It said it was looking to issue directives and further action on these cases in due course.

Additionally, the report said he has three substantive criminal cases being tried before the courts and did not secure any convictions or acquittals during the period under review.
