Stop Taking BECE Fees and Refund Collected Monies- GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has warned the heads of Junior High School to desist from taking fees for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

In a statement, the Service said it had taken notice of allegations of extortion by Heads of schools on social media.

It noted that the said fees are unauthorized.

“Management wishes to emphasise that these fees are unauthorized and all heads are advised to cease the practice immediately.”

It also directed that all monies collected must be refunded to the students, cautioning that violation could attract sanctions.

“Regional Directors are instructed to alert district directors to monitor the situation and caution heads of basic schools.”

Meanwhile, the heads of schools were warned against late registration of eligible candidates.

“All eligible candidates must be registered within the stipulated registration period set by the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
