Four Dead, Three Injured in Accident Along Sunyani-Kumasi Highway

Four persons have died with others injured after an accident involving a commercial KIA truck and a Toyota RAV4.

The accident on Wednesday occurred near the Fire Academy and Training School (FATS) along the Sunyani-Kumasi highway.

According to a statement by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Toyota RAV4  with registration number AS 4365-20 was carrying three passengers while the KIA truck with registration number GT 5335-19 had four passengers.

The crash left four victims trapped in both vehicles.

“Arriving at 0553 hours, the rescue team found seven (7) victims, with four (4) trapped—three (3) in the RAV4 and one (1) in the KIA truck.”

Personnel from Bechem Fire Command and the Duayaw-Nkwanta Fire Station went to the rescue of the victims.

It confirmed that four motionless bodies were retrieved from the wreckage while three had sustained various degrees of injuries.

The injured were immediately transported to Saint John’s of God Hospital and Bechem Government Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
