Former NPA Boss, 9 Others Arraigned over ¢291 Million Extortion Case

The OSP has arraigned former NPA Chief Executive Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid and nine others before Criminal Court 4 over alleged extortion in a GH¢291 million corruption case.
In court on December 9, 2025, the prosecution read a consolidated 54-count charge sheet covering Extortion, Using Public Office for Profit, Money Laundering, and Conspiracy.
“Investigations show that the first three accused operated an extortion scheme between 2022 and 2024, collecting over GH¢291 million and US$332,000 from oil marketing companies and transporters.
“Portions of the proceeds were laundered through three companies to acquire lands, residences, fuel stations, and trucks in attempts to disguise the criminal origin of the funds,” the OSP reported.
All accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court adopted the core bail terms earlier set by Criminal Court 3, but asked the accused persons to report to the Registrar on the first and last Tuesday of every month.
It further directed the prosecution to file all mandatory disclosures by January 12, 2026.
Meanwhile, a Case Management Conference has been set for January 19, 2026.
