Five Players Departing Kotoko

Asante Kotoko SC has confirmed the departure of five players after the conclusion of the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season.

The five are captain Fredrick Asare, Fernando Wisdom Bassey, Sampson Eduku, Daniel Adrian Adjetey and Michael Kyei Dwamena.

The departure of two was announced on Thursday evening while the rest were communicated on Friday morning.

According to the club, Asare and Dwamena’s contracts have expired while Bassey, Eduku and Adjetey leave after their contracts were terminated on mutual grounds.

“We wish them the best for the future,” it said in a brief statement.

It comes after the Communications Director of Kotoko, Sarfo Duku, disclosed efforts are underway to part ways with unproductive players.

He said this would mark the commencement of changes in the team which will be playing in the CAF Confederation Cup in the preceding season.

In an interview, the communicator said, “We will soon effect changes in the team. Players who were unable to meet our expectations will be shown the exit door. In the next few days, some players will leave the club.”
