Five NAIMOS Officers Involved in Fatal Accident During Major Anti-Galamsey Operation

Five officers of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) have been involved in a fatal accident during a galamsey operation at Obuasi Airport area.

This was confirmed by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in a statement.

“The incident occurred while the team was undertaking a major anti-galamsey operation aimed at curbing the menace of illegal mining within the enclave.”

One person perished while the remaining four sustained serious injuries.

The injured are currently receiving medical care at a facility.

The Minister, Emmanuel Armah Buah, extended his profound sympathies to the family of the deceased as he conveyed his heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery to the injured team members.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has initiated a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all frontline personnel and will ensure they receive the utmost support and care.”
