First-Year SHS Students Start School In Two Weeks
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has set October 30 as reporting date for first-year students in the various Senior High Schools (SHSs).
According to a timetable published by the Service, the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates will vacate on February 8, 2025.
Alongside continuing students, they will be granted a break between December 5 and 9 to go home to exercise their franchise and between December 20 and January 2 for the Christmas break.
Their reporting to the school will mark the new academic year for all SHS students.
“Incoming First Year students for Single Track and Transitional Schools will also begin school on Wednesday, 30th October 2024. Additionally, all continuing students in Single Track Schools will reopen for the new academic year on Wednesday, 30th October 2024,” it said in a statement.
The GES noted that the re-opening date is purposed at ensuring that the school calendar starts in September next year and pave the way for the final year students to write their 2025/2026 WASSCE in May/June.
