Fire Officers Who Assaulted a Journalist Interdicted- Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed the interdiction of some personnel of the Ghana Fire Service (GNFS) over the manhandling of a journalist earlier this week.
In an interview on GBC during a visit on January 8, 2025, the President said the investigation was still ongoing.
“The officers have been identified. They have been interdicted, and an investigation is ongoing.”
Condemning the incident, he stated that assault on journalists will not be countenanced in his administration.
It comes after the government vowed to take disciplinary actions against personnel of the GNFS.
The incident happened during a fire outbreak at Kasoa New Market while the said reporter, identified as Samuel Addo, was taking video coverage of an altercation between the fire officers and traders.
According to the victim, his phone was seized while he had some money also stolen.
