Ghana recorded three fire outbreaks in three different regions across the country on Monday, January 1, 2024.
This was communicated by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in a press statement.
The first inferno was recorded in Winneba in the Central Region at midnight.
“A late-hour running call was received at the Winneba Fire Station reporting a fire outbreak at a shop used as a mini Supper Market at the Winneba Senior High School Junction in Winneba.
“With assistance from Swedru Fire Station, the ravaging fire was contained and brought under control at 0040 hours and finally extinguished at 0057 hours without any casualty.”
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
The second fire was recorded at Adjei Kojo in the Greater Accra Region around 3 pm. Six metal containers were affected by the fire, the GNFS noted, adding that the swift response by the Motorway and Tema Metro Fire Stations prevented the fire from spreading to 22 other containers.
The cause of the outbreak is also yet to be determined.
Meanwhile, a bushfire at Juaso in the Ashanti Region was extinguished by personnel from the Konongo Fire Station.
The fire was contained from spreading to a GOIL Fuel Service Station in the area, the Service said.
