Fella Makafui Clarifies “Arrest” Rumours
Actress and social media influencer, Fella Makafui has given clarity to what was misconstrued and reported as her arrest in the media space on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
According to her, she was only invited by the police, which invitation was duly honoured.
In a press statement released on Thursday, Fella stated that at no point was she arrested with some of her body enhancement products seized as widely reported.
“Please disregard the reports about Actress Fella Makafui’s arrest. She was invited yesterday and departed soon after respectfully honouring the invitation.”
On her visit to the police station, she said she shared all necessary information about the issue to assist the investigation and presented her license from the Ghana Traditional Medicine Practice along with details of her FDA-registered products.
“Additionally, she provided information on the few products still undergoing the registration process. For the avoidance of doubt, please note that there was no arrest or bail regarding this subject matter.”
She has urged her fans to stay calm as the investigations continue.
Background
A statement released by Akwasi Koranteng, the lead investigator at ISPYGH 247, an investigative documentary filmmaking firm, said Fella was rounded up following months of investigation into her activities.
According to him, she was granted bail on the same day.
Her case borders on sale of unregistered drugs; false advertising; and publishing unapproved adverts by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
The statement said 16 of her products were seized as evidence during her arrest at Mempeasem shop.
“During questioning, Fella confessed that most of the drugs she sold were not registered by the FDA. She has since been granted bail.”
It added, “This joint operation aims to protect the public from harmful and unapproved products, ensuring the highest level of pharmaceutical care and competent providers.”
