FDA Goes After Unregistered Herbal Medicine Sellers

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has declared relentless war against sellers of unregistered herbal medicines on the market.

It comes after a market surveillance led to the seizure of some brands of unregistered medicine in some parts of Accra.

It said a total of 98 cartons of unregistered herbal medicines were seized for safe disposal from 22nd-24th November, 2025.

The seized products include Amenazel Herbal Tonic, Amenazel Herbal Bitters and Poget Herbal Mixture.

It used the occasion to warn sellers of these products to desist, adding that they would face the full rigours of the law.

“To those selling unregistered products, we will not relent in our commitment to ensuring public health and safety, so sooner than you think, we will get to you.”

It is however unclear if any arrest was made in addition to the seizure.
