FDA Gives Ultimatum To Food Service Operators To Get Hygiene Permit

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) of Ghana has stated that it will not hesitate to impose regulatory sanctions on establishments that fail to get FDA hygiene permits after the end of July.

Section 130(1) of the Public Health Act charges persons who manufacture for sale, sell supply or store some products to get a hygiene permit.

All food service establishments are therefore required to either download a Food Hygiene Permit Application Form from the FDA website or obtain hard copies of the form from the FDA’s regional offices, the FDA said in a public notice.

“Submit completed application forms (attaching a copy of your business registration certificate) to the offices indicated above.”

Meanwhile, food service establishments with the certificate are directed to display them.

Food service establishments include restaurants, hotels, cafeterias, food services operations in institutions including hospitals, bakeries, food catering establishments, suppliers to cruise boats, ships, events, canteens, and Mobile vending operators and food delivery businesses.
