Expose Bawumia in a Debate if he Hasn’t Performed- Afenyo Markin to Mahama
The leader of the Majority Caucus in Parliament Alexander Afenyo Markin has challenged the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama to avail himself for a national debate ahead of the 2024 general elections.
He anticipates that the debate will provide a suitable forum for the former President to prove claims that the current Vice President who is the 2024 flagbearer of the ruling party has performed abysmally in his office and isn’t fit for Presidency.
According to the Effutu Constituency Member of Parliament and Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) stands prepared to face Mr Mahama in a debate any day.
“To stand shoulder to shoulder with Dr Bawumia and debate on the issues. Dr Bawumia is ready to put the cards on the table. If he says that we have not performed as a government, it is only through a debate that he can put the point across. We don’t believe in rhetoric. If Dr Bawumia has not performed, expose him through a debate.
“If Dr Bawumia is not competent to lead to lead the country, I think that the best way to expose that is through debate. We are ready and I’m saying that to stay away from the attacks for the decency of our politics, the best way to go is to debate on the issues. Ghanaians want a change in their lives, development and employment. The only way to bring the best out of us as a political class is to debate the issues. Mr Mahama should not run away from the debate.”
