Explosion at Gas Station Razes Down Home, Cars in Sunyani

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has reported a gas explosion in Sunyani in the Bono Region that has destroyed a residential building.

The incident happened on the night of Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

According to the service, the fire started at the Asufufu Gas Filling Station and spread to the building, razing it down and consuming all its content.

The GNFS confirmed in a statement that the fire also destroyed the bulk gas tank and other vehicles parked at the affected Gas Station but was prevented from spreading to a nearby filling station.

There was however no casualty.

“On Wednesday evening at 2124 hours, a devastating fire broke out at a Gas Filling Station at Asufufu, near Sunyani razing down a nearby residential building and its contents.

“The Nsoatre Fire crew arrived at 2147 hours, swiftly preventing the blaze from spreading to a nearby Fuel Filling Station… Support from Duayaw Nkwanta, Ghana Airport, and Ghana Army Fire Stations helped contain the blaze,” the statement communicated.

The Service has since commenced investigations into the incident.
