Eschew Know-it-all, Humble Yourself And Learn; Asantehene to Regional Minister

The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has advised the newly sworn in Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, to eschew Know-it-all attitude in the discharge of his duties.
Hon Dr Amoakohene is the 15th Ashanti Regional Minister under the Fourth Republic and the youngest to take up the role at 34 years.
He was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama and subsequently received the approval of Parliament, making way for his swearing in by the President on January 30, 2025.
His first port of call following the swearing in event at the seat of the Presidency was the Manhyia Palace on January 31, 2025, to announce himself to the King, express appreciation for his support and seek his counsel and blessings.
The medical doctor was accompanied by Regional Coordinating Council Chief Director, Mr Michael Owusu Amoako, the General Officer Commanding Central Command, Brigadier General Michael Opoku, the Regional Commander, DCOP Mr. Frank Abrokwa, the Regional Commander of Prisons, Mr James B Mwinyelle and other members of the RCC.
Diligence and Humility
In his submission, the Minister assured Otumfuo of his commitment to discharge his mandate with diligence and humility in accordance with the command of the President.
“At the swearing-in ceremony, the President informed us of his vision to run a government that embodies humility and hard work. He doesn’t intend for us to tarnish or soil the image of his administration with arrogance. As such I come in humility and hard work in service of Asanteman.”
He also vowed to avail himself to the services of the Asantehene at all times to make the Region a better place.
Meanwhile, he committed to making sure all infrastructural promises by the President are honoured.
Dr Amoakohene used the occasion to also express his appreciation to the Asantehene for delegating a high-powered entourage to accompany him for his vetting which turned out to be very successful.
Welcome
Otumfuo warmly and gladly welcomed the new Minister who replaces Hon Simon Osei Mensah.
“I welcome you now that you have been sworn in. This has always been your home but now you come in as the Regional Minister.”
His Majesty charged him to keep him regularly informed about developments in the region for prompt action.
Down To Earth
The King in his invaluable counsel to the young Minister urged him to eschew know-it-all behaviours and consult the relevant members of the RCC in his decision-making.
“Continue in humility. Don’t change. Make sure you collaborate with the authorities you have come to meet at the RCC. Don’t sideline them and portray attitudes that suggest you are wiser than them all and know everything. Be down to earth and take their submissions in all you do. Don’t rush into signing anything as well. Get expert opinions else they will watch you fall from your height.”
Assistance
Meanwhile, Otumfuo urged the other members of the Council to be at his service and give him the needed directions for success.
“Remember that everything you do is for me,” Otumfuo highlighted.
