El Wak Stampede: Gender Minister Visits Injured Victims and Bereaved Families

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has visited the victims and bereaved families of the tragic El-Wak Stadium stampede during a military recruitment screening exercise.

On Thursday, November 13, 2025, she visited the 37 Military Hospital to interact and assess the recovery process of the victims receiving treatment at the facility.

The Minister delivered a message of solidarity from both the Government and the citizens of Ghana to the injured.

Hon. Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey stated that the President had requested her to visit them and to reassure them that the nation was steadfastly supporting them.

She urged the victims to maintain hope, expressing her belief that they would fully recover and have a promising future ahead.

During the visit, the Minister expressed appreciation to the medical team and hospital management for their dedication and swift response in attending to the injured.

In addition, she visited some bereaved families in Adenta and Kpone Katamanso together with the Deputy Minister of Defence and some officials from her Ministry to commiserate with them.

The Minister conveyed the Government’s profound sympathy, along with her condolences and assured the families of ongoing support throughout this difficult time.

“The Ministry will walk with you through the healing process and, by way of social protection, ensure that your future does not end with what has happened”, she said.

The Minister is scheduled to visit the other families affected very soon and commiserate with them as well.
