Eight Shops Affected by Community One Market Fire

The country has recorded yet another market fire after the last at Adum PZ in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
The inferno at the Tema Community One Market in the Greater Accra Region started in the late hours of Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said it was informed about the fire around 11 pm and fought the flames with the assistance of personnel from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
“The fire call was received at 0232 hours, and the first fire engine arrived at 0241 hours. ECG and police personnel arrived at 0323 hours to assist by isolating electricity in the area and ensuring security and law enforcement,” it said in a communique.
It said a major challenge to the firefighting was heavy smoke.
The Service also confirmed that no injuries were recorded while the flames were prevented from spreading to over 100 shops.
