Education Minister Climaxes 4-day tour at Tepa
The Minister for Education, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, concluded his four-day tour in the Ashanti Region by visiting the Tepa Teacher Trainee College project site to inspect its progress.
He was accompanied by the Tepa Traditional Council.
Speaking with the media, the contractor in charge of the project, Engineer Michael Tienaah said the administration block is almost complete, and the general construction is about 80% completed, which will be fully completed within the next six months.
He indicated that the “two-story dormitory facility will accommodate four to six hundred students”.
Earlier, the Education Minister had visited the construction site of the Juaben model Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) school, which will assimilate ten Junior High Schools. The project is funded by the Arab Development Bank and is among the five model schools in the Region that seeks to instil 21st-century skills in pupils to enhance the country’s education and general development.
“You cannot do 21st century education without putting the children in places where basic equipment and tools are made available to them,” he said.
Dr. Adutwum said that bringing Junior High Schools under a single roof with well-equipped facilities, such as science and ICT laboratories, a library, and others, will build a solid foundation for pupils and prepare them for the second cycle education as they become more familiar with the system.
During his tour, the Minister visited selected Senior High Schools in the Region to inspect the progress of infrastructural projects, the state of academic performance in schools, and the general well-being of the second cycle education system.
