ECOWAS Appoints Akufo-Addo Head of Election Mission to Benin

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has appointed former Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the head of its Election Observation Mission to Benin.

They will monitor the upcoming Presidential election in the Republic of Benin, scheduled for April 12, 2026.

Among the members of the Mission are personalities from member states, including diplomats, electoral experts and representatives of national electoral commissions.

He will also be joined by members of the ECOWAS Parliament and the Council of Wise, as well as officials from the ECOWAS Court of Justice.

Nana Akufo-Addo will depart Ghana on April 8, his Office announced in a press statement.

He will return to Ghana on April 15 after delivering on the mandate.
