Economic Crisis: Otumfuo Urges Ghanaians Not To Give Up, Work Harder
The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged Christians not to give up on the economic situation in the country but to continue to hold onto their faith bearing in mind that God will certainly take them safely through the New Year.
According to the King, the country and the rest of the world went through economic tribulations as a result of various factors including the Covid-19 pandemic, Russia/Ukraine war, and Climate change among others.
His Majesty was addressing the Ramseyer Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the Asante Presbytery on Sunday 1st January 2023 after worshipping with them, being the 1st service of the New Year.
This was in furtherance of the Presbytery’s move to take the message to traditional leaders in the Presbytery through the “Mission to the Palace” project. It must be noted that in the last 14 years, the leadership of the Asante Presbytery led by the Chairperson has been holding Divine Service with the Asantehene on the 1st day of the year (1st January) at the Manhyia Palace.
But for this year, the King who is not taking the service for granted took the project to another level by joining the Ramseyer Congregation for the service.
His Majesty the King was accompanied by his wife, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, his two children, Linguists, Chiefs and other servants.
The service also saw the graceful attendance of the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana – Worldwide, the Rt Rev Prof Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mantey, Asante Presbytery Chairperson, Rev Benson Osafo Kantanka and a couple of Minister’s including some former Chairpersons.
Speaking through his Linguist, the Asantehene indicated that the Church in Asante has been worshipping with him on the 1st day of every year for the past 14 years.
However, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, his wife, implored him to this time to join them for their 1st service of the year since the day divinely fell on Sunday. He was however quick to add that God willing, the 2024 1st day service shall be held back in the Palace.
The King acknowledged the yet-to-be-completed beautiful edifice being put up by the Ramseyer Congregation where the service was held and pledged to see to the completion of the project as he urged the leadership to engage him to that effect.
He assured Presbyterians and all believers of God’s unfailing protection and care for His children and that the Lord who took them through the previous year notwithstanding the economic crisis will surely see them through the new year and advised them to keep working hard.
