ECG Strategizes to Deal with Free Electricity Consumption
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has formulated a plan to rid the county of free electricity consumption, which is prevalent.
In a notice, it said the operation is called “Operation No Free Consumption” and takes effect in February.
“The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) wishes to inform all customers and users of electricity who are consuming electricity without paying for it that ECG is embarking on Operation No Free Consumption, effective Thursday, 1st February, to Friday, 15th February 2024.”
As part of the operation, personnel of the company will update customer details including phone numbers, GPS addresses and other information as well as collect any arrears and disconnect for non-payment of arrears.
Additionally, the officers will pick pictorial readings of all postpaid meters with their new meter reading electronic device (Zeus Mobile device) and capture/regularize all SHEP/non-ECG meters on our Zeus mobile device for customers to pay the regularization fee.
It noted, “The regional and district offices will operate with a lean staff pool who will provide essential services to customers during this exercise.”
