ECG Invites Ghana Standards Authority to Test its Meters

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has invited the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) to independently and randomly select and test meters in its laboratory.

This follows an outpour of concerns from users of prepaid meters over the fast depletion of credit.

This forms part of an ongoing investigation into the concerns at the instance of the Minister for Energy and Green Transition.

The GSA’s findings will be included in an ongoing investigation report of ECG, which will be submitted to the Minister.

“ECG is fully committed to investigating all complaints. These investigations have already commenced,” it assured.

Meanwhile, it defended the accuracy of its meters, saying they undergo rigorous testing and calibration.

“Our quality assurance processes are aligned with both national and international standards ECGs meter testing laboratory is state-of-the-art and comparable to leading facilities worldwide.

“In addition, all ECG meters are independently tested and certified by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) for compliance with approved standards before deployment,” it said in a statement on Tuesday.

It added, “ECG remains committed to responsive, transparent, and accountable service delivery, and we appreciate our valued customers and stakeholders for their continued support and cooperation.”
