ECG also responsible for Water shortages – GWCL
The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has partly laid blame on the doorsteps of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) over shortages of water supply to some communities in the Kumasi Metropolis.
According to Mr Theophilus T. Collins, Regional Commercial Manager, Ashanti-South, of the GWCL, lack of constant power supply from ECG is affecting the operations of the Water Company.
“When the power supply from ECG is not all that constant, it becomes difficult for us to pump water into the taps of the people who need water”, the GWCL Regional Manager revealed on Manhyia-based Opemsuo FM morning show.
According to Mr Theophilus T. Collins, it is not a deliberate action of GWCL to cut supply to customers especially those in Tech, Ayigya, Maxima, Ayiduase and other places all in Kumasi for any reason.
“Sometimes, it maybe a genuine fault on our part but when that fault is detected, we will try as much as possible to fix these problems immediately”, the Manager told host of ” “Nkwantananso” show, George Opoku Mensah.
Some customers of GWCL in the Ashanti Region recently are not happy about the essential service being rendered by GWCL.
However, the Regional Commercial Manager, Ashanti-South explained that some of the challenges are as a result of outdated equipment contributing to such unfortunate incidents.
