EC Provides Statistics for Ballot Papers Printing
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana intends to use the total number of voters on the Provisional Voters Register plus a two percent increase as the benchmark for printing ballot papers for the Presidential and Parliamentary elections this year.
It is hopeful that the method will make available adequate ballot paper to forestall shortfalls or unnecessary wastage.
“This methodology of adding a percentage increase has been used by the Commission to guide the printing of ballots since 1992,” it announced in a statement on October 14, 2024.
It continued, “In arriving at the ballot statistics, the Commission took into account the total number of voters on the 2024 Provisional Voters Register (PVR) plus a two percent increase. While the Commission welcomes and encourages a total voter turnout on Election Day, it also recognizes that not every registered voter will vote in the 2024 General Election.”
The EC has since urged Ghanaians to trust it to deliver on their mandate.
Ghana’s total voters according to data from the provisional register provided by the Commission stands at 18,772,795.
Out of this number, 9,690,173 are females, while 9,082,622 are males with 708,282 new voters added to the electoral roll for the upcoming elections.
