EC Burns Excess Ballot Papers and Plates
The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced the destruction of some electoral materials in the Ahafo and Volta Regions.
The exercise undertaken in the presence of representatives of political parties took place on Saturday, November 15, 2024.
The materials included excess or scrap ballot papers and plates used to print the Presidential and Parliamentary ballots for the two regions.
“The destruction done through burning was witnessed by the Agents of the Political Parties, the National Intelligence Bureau, National Security, Ghana Police Service and the Electoral Commission,” it said in a statement on Sunday.
Meanwhile, it announced that printed ballot papers for the two regions spotted to have issues with serialization would also be destroyed later.
“The Commission will today, Sunday the 17th of November, 2024, account for all the ballot papers printed for both Regions which will be burnt subsequently due to challenges with the serial numbers. The Commission will inform the Political Parties and other Stakeholders in due course to enable them to observe the destruction of these ballot papers.”
