Digitalization Saves NSS Ghs112m
The Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Osei Assibey Antwi has disclosed the secretariat has been able to save at least Ghs 112 million from being paid to undeserving persons through the infusion of technology.
He disclosed this to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during an unannounced visit to the NSS boss on Monday, January 31, 2022.
According to the vice president, the visit was to familiarise himself with the secretariat’s current activities.
The NSS boss, formerly the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) boss noted that the Metric app which combines facial recognition technology and Ghanacard checks for Verification and Validation blocked some 14,027 potential fraudsters.
The vice president has commended the NSS for such an initiative.
“I commend the leadership of the Scheme for their “out of the box thinking”, he stated and expressing delight that the fruits of digitalization, designed to formalise the economy and fight corruption, are beginning to manifest widely and further urged them to keep up with the good work.
