Democracy Hub Awaits Probe Into Alleged Assault of Ridge Hospital Staff By Member

Democracy Hub says it is awaiting the findings of the ongoing investigation by the official into the alleged assault of staff of Greater Accra Regional Hospital, also known as Ridge Hospital, by one of its members.

In a statement, it noted that the next action will depend on the report of the committee.

“Democracy Hub’s attention has been drawn to recent developments at Ridge Hospital. We understand that Mr. Ralph Afful Williams (AKA Fellow Ghanaians), an activist associated with Democracy Hub, is among those connected to the incident.”

“We will await the findings of the committee to inform any further steps or public commentary. Democracy Hub remains committed to a transparent process, accountability and the rule of law.”

It is reported that Ralph led a group to interfere and assault health workers on duty after medical officers delayed attending to some accident victims at the facility’s Emergency Department over the weekend.

In a statement, the management of the hospital said that at the time of the incident, clinicians were actively attending to other emergencies when relatives and friends of the accident victims invaded the emergency triage.

The Ministry of Health has since announced a probe to identify the circumstances that led to the reported delay in care and address any gaps that may have contributed to the incident.

It has also beefed up security at the facility to ensure the safety of staff, patients, and the general public.
